Independence is Not Always the Key

Title: Independence is Not Always the Key

Quote: "you don't need to worry about me. I have a college education. Im not destitute. I'm living like this by choice" (Krakauer 51).

Topic: Inspiration or Fool

I think that in this situation Alex is a fool. Alex is acting like he knows everything on how to live out in the wild and telling everyone to not worry about him because it is his choice on how he's living. In my mind he is trying to act like he is all tough and prove something to everyone. This can be very dangerous because if he is going out into the wild ill prepared he will not survive and will eventually perish. This quote is relevant to my other blog post because he is equipped with a .22 caliber rifle which won't do any harm to game out in the wild. Alex set himself up basically for failure because he couldn't kill any animals due to his foolishness of brining a small gun. This whole thing is ionic because he stated that he could do it all himself without any problems but he ends up dying in the end.
