Title: To be Prepared or Not to Be
Quote: "His rifle was only .22 caliber, a bore too small to rely on if he expected to kill large animals like moose and caribou, which he would have to eat if he hoped to remain very long in the country" (Krakauer 5).
Topic: Travel Advice
My dad travels to so many different countries for his work so he knows a lot about being organized and having the right essentials in oder to have a successful trip into the unknown. Personally i believe that it is very important to have everything planned out and ready for any kind of trip even if it is small. Alex is going into a place where there is little chance for survival if he doesn't have the right tools and gear. In order to have a chance to survive he needs to kill game to consume the necessary amount of food to keep living. He clearly was not prepared going into the wild because he is carrying a .22 caliber rifle which will do hardly and damage to large animals. In general Alex was not prepared at all with any gear let a lone a means of killing game. My travel advice would be to make sure you have the correct gear and tools according to the terrain that you are getting yourself into.
