Title: Loneliness within loneliness
Quote: "Even when we were little, he was very to himself... he wasn't antisocial-he always had friends and everybody liked him- but he could go off an entertain himself for hours... he could be alone without being lonely" (Krakauer 107).
Topic: Travel Advice/ Inspiration or Fool
This quote in my mind can easily go both ways with inspiration or fool and travel advice. Chris was described as being "smarter than the average" back in grade school achieving high marks on achievement tests. He's obviously smart guy so him ending up traveling into the wild alone without the proper tools is kind of mind boggling. I feel like Chris wanted to be alone if he had the choice between having company or just doing it all on his own. For travel advice I would say never to travel alone into a dangerous environment without someone there to look after you and vice versa. Even though he likes being alone and doing things on his own it was not smart to travel in alone. Inspiration would be that he could go off and entertain himself and not get lonely. It shows that he was confident enough in himself to go into the wild alone and it shows determination but it didn't have much success for him. I see it as both being a fool and an inspiration because he did end up dying but he had a dream and a goal that he wanted to achieve and I admire that.
